THIS JUST IN!!!

I'm sure we have all heard of an Administration called NASA.

Which is The National Aeronautics Space Administration, An agency of the United States government which is responsible for the nation's civilian Space program and Aeronautics and Aerospace research.

Actually on February 2006 they stated that their mission statement is :

" To pioneer the future in space exploration, scientific discovery and aeronautics research "

This agency was established under the National Aeronautics and Space Act on July 29 1958, replacing the prior space agency NACA ( National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics ).

NASA became operational on October 1 1958. Later becoming widely known for their ground breaking space exploration missions, for instance :

 1) Apollo Moon landing missions :

To land humans on the surface of the Moon. Occurring during the Eisenhower's Administration, The first success being on July 20 1969, On Apollo 11 to be specific. What an accomplishment, This was truly historical and will always be remembered. I don't think a lot of accomplishments could over shadow this one..

Buzz Aldrin walks on the Moon 1969 - Apollo 11

2) The Sky Lab Space Station :

which was the United States first Space Station. It was the only space station NASA sent alone and it did remain in orbit around the Earth from 1973 to 1979.

The Sky Lab

3) The Space Shuttle :

which is as we all know a Space craft that is used for orbital human space flight missions, The first of four test flights occurred in 1981. And the system is said to be retired in 2011 after 135 launches.

The Space Shuttle

Along with many other discoveries and missions all for the better of Science.

Their headquarters are located in Washington D.C, USA. with a little less than 18, 000 employees with also an annual budget of almost 18 Billion US Dollars. ( FY 2009 )

NASA has always been under fire for its tremendous budget and weak results, Not from everyone, but at times from media, from civilians and from other administrations, especially in this bad economic period, however at the same time, a lot of humans are confident in this administration and do believe that all this will one day pay off and every one will be rewarded.

Through out all of its years, NASA has sent space stations and probes and satellites to almost every planet in our solar system, from Jupiter to Mars and so on.. in hopes in learning more about these large floating objects, which ever since their discovery have pricked our mind with thoughts and ideas..

-----------------------------------------------

Now Let us get to the BREAKING NEWS! : )

In order for us to understand this, we would need to know a little about biology.

In Biology we know that the building blocks of life are :

Carbon.
Hydrogen.
Oxygen.
Nitrogen.
Sulphur.
Phosphorous.

- All living organisms are made of cells.
- Organisms could either be Unicellular or Multicellular.
- Cells could either be complex or simple.

Prokrayotic Cell ( Simple Cell )

Eukaryotic Cell ( Complex Cell )

You can easily tell which of two is the Complex cell, it is obviously the bottom structure ( Eukaryotic Cell ). Now depending on whether an organism is made of what its complexity would differ, For instance :

Us humans cannot be made from cells in the first diagram, to be honest its not that we cannot its just that we are not. We are made of complex cells and we are considered as a Multicellular organisms meaning we are made of more than ONE cell. :) ( Obviously )

Now if you look closely at both structures you would notice the word ( Nucleoid ) in the first diagram, and the word ( Nucleus ) in the second which is a large structure with a grey membrane consisting of a Nuclear membrane and Nucleolus and Chromatins While in the first diagram this structure is consisting of strands and threads of Chromatins ( This being the key difference on how Eukaryotic & Prokrayotic cells are classified - Based on the presence of a Distinct Nucleus). This structure controls all the cell activities and is basically the Brain of the cell if you may..

In both structures this Nucleus no matter how small or how distinct it is, it does control the cell and its functioning and structure.

It also contains structures that account for the genetics of the cell, how it is built up and how it is made.

These structures are made up of Nucleic Acid. Which make up the chromosomes which contain the genes and are a part of the Nucleus.

There are TWO TYPES of Nucleic Acid :

DNA - Deoxyribonucleic Acid.
RNA - Ribonucleic Acid.

And This Nucleic Acid is Made up of further smaller individual units called Nucleotides.

The above is the simplest possible diagram representing a Nucleotide, It is definitely much more complex once you get in depth but I used this diagram just to give you the basic understanding which is :

A Nucleotide is made up of :

- Sugar ( Ribose / Deoxyribose )
- Phosphate
- Nitrogenous Base ( Adenine, Thymine, Guanine / Uracil, Cytosine )

And a number of Nucleotides form a Poly nucleotides, which builds up like we said the Nucleic Acid, which is either DNA or RNA, which then builds up the Chromosomes, which are found in the Nucleus which account for the organisms Genetics, Structure & Functioning. :)

Nucleic Acid make up DNA then Chromosomes in the Nucleus.

I Hope you are still with me, and that you got the basic idea. So that we can now proceed to the exciting Breaking news which was found by NASA.

As you notice the succession of the built up genetics of an organism.

( Nucleotide - Poly nucleotide - Nucleic Acid  - Chromosome - Organism's Genetics )

Therefore you notice that the building block is the Nucleotide which is made of like we saw earlier :

- Sugar ( Carbon, Hydrogen, Oxygen )
- Phosphate ( Phosphorous )
- Nitrogenous Base ( Nitrogen )

Now if you look up at the beginning of this post to where I listed out the building blocks of life, you see all the above elements, along with Sulphur which are an important component for Proteins. There fore this is how we all know that all life is built and living organisms are made from all these elements.

Double Helix DNA strand.
Well... Until Now

NASA held a press conference recently, either today or tomorrow saying that they have made an amazing discovery.

They particularly said they have made ''an astrobiology finding that will impact the search for evidence of extraterrestrial Life. "

Of course the Media was all over this story, they went crazy and started to jump to conclusions in a heart beat.

DID NASA FINALLY FIND EXTRATERRESTRIAL LIFE FORMS?!!

The answer to that question is still unanswered, which was disappointing to some and expected to others, but the discovery that NASA made most recently is indeed an Huge Discovery in terms of Biology and in terms of the existence of Extraterrestrial life forms.

The discovery is this :

As we said all life forms on earth are made of ( Carbon, Hydrogen, Oxygen, Sulphur, Nitrogen,
Phosphorous )

Well, NASA has discovered a Living bacteria that is Living off ( Arsenic ) Rather than
( Phosphorous ) for the building blocks of its DNA.

Get it.. ?

Therefore it is made of another element instead of Phosphorous. And Phosphorous is an element that sustains all life forms on Earth.

THIS IS HUGE!

Felisa Wolfe-Simon (  A NASA Atsro-biology Researcher & Co-author if this Study ) Stated :

" It would be incredible to announce that we have found an alien. But from our understanding of biology, this is a phenomenal finding. You're taking the fundamental building blocks of life and replacing one of them with another compound "

'' This is a pretty big deal,'' said Athula Wikramanayake, a UM expert in evolutionary biology. ``We've always believed that the basic elements needed for life are carbon, nitrogen, hydrogen, oxygen, sulphur and phosphorus,'' he said.

The news is tremendous in my humble opinion as well, Read those two statements once more!

They found an Organism that uses Arsenic instead of the regular Phosphorous as one of its building blocks for  its DNA!

Read this twice... !

To be more specific, The organism which they discovered is a Form of Bacteria..

Arsenic which is TOXIC to most living creatures, is what these bacteria use instead of phosphorous!

WHICH IS SOMETHING THAT NO OTHER KNOWN LIFE FORM CAN DO!

This is of huge magnitude.

GFAJ - 1 ( The Bacteria )

This Bacteria ( GFAJ - 1 ) is a rod shaped Extremophile Bacterium. The word Extremophile means an organism that requires extreme conditions in order to survive, conditions that would be very unconventional for most earthly organisms. This particular Bacteria when starved from phosphorous is able to incorporate the usually Toxic element Arsenic in it's Protiens, Lipids & metabolites such as ATP, As well as its DNA & RNA.

Scientific Classification :

- Kingdom :     Bacteria.
- Phylum :        Proteobacteria.
- Class :           Gammaproteobacteria.
- Order :          Oceanospirillales.
- Family:          Halomonadaceae.

It was discovered and cultured by Geomicrobiologist Felisa Wolfe - Simon at the US Geology Survey in Menlo Park, California. It was isolated & cultured from the beginning of 2009 from sediments that she and her colleagues collected from Mono Lake, California, USA. This lake is Hyper-saline and is Highly AlkalineIt also has one of the highest natural concentrations of arsenic in the world.

the rod-shaped GFAJ-1 nests among other salt-loving bacteria within the genus Halomonas of the family  Halomonadaceae. Many of these bacteria are known to be able to tolerate high levels of arsenic, and to have a proclivity to take it up into their cells. However, GFAJ-1 has now been shown to go a step further; when starved of phosphorus, it can instead incorporate arsenic into its metabolites and macromolecules and continue growing.

All this was revealed in press conference in Washington D.C, where this bacteria GFAJ - 1 which was found in Mono Lake, California, Containing DNA foreign to anything we have ever known..

That would distinguish it from every other form of life, all of which are based on the same six elements: phosphorus, sulfur, carbon, hydrogen, oxygen and nitrogen. But after months in the laboratory, the bacteria that was found in Mono Lake which is known for its unusual chemistry, including very high levels of salinity, alkalinity and arsenic was found to have substituted arsenic atoms for phosphorous atoms in its cells.

Amazing isn't it..?!

Mono Lake, California where the Bacteria were Found.

Don't you think this is huge ?

I Mean to find a life form that is existing and has its building blocks made of elements that no other life form is built up of..

Amazing in my opinion..

All for the love is Science..

Until Next time,

Peace,

ON THIS DAY...

November 27th 1895, At the Swedish-Norwegian Club in Paris, The Swedish Chemist, Engineer & innovator Alfred  Nobel ( Founder of Nobel Prize ) Signed his Last will & testament and set aside a bulk of his estate to establish the Nobel Prizes, to be awarded annually without distinction of nationality..

Anyone ever wondered what is the Story behind the Nobel Prizes.. ?

Well, here it is in a Nutshell..

I'm not sure if you all know this, but Mr. Nobel is the inventor of Dynamite. Yes, those red sticks that blow up!! : ) He created them..

Also He found that when Nitroglycerin was incorporated with certain inert substances it became more stable and safer to handle, He named his creation Dynamite. ( referring to the Greek word Power ) .

Now to be honest, it must of been hard for him, because imagine being the inventor of a gadget that is mainly used for murder, not that he used it for that purpose but I mean other Nations, In his defence, an invention is an invention no matter what it is, For instance are we going to punish the man that invented Bullets..?! No.. He deserves just as much credit as any inventor in my opinion..

And all inventions can be taken both ways...The good & the bad.. Its us who control it and have  the responsibility..not the inventors.

So you can imagine the amount of backlash he was put against, he even wanted to change its name to
" Nobel's Safety Powder " to make it seem less harmful and save face.. but then he eventually settled with Dynamite.

Anyways, so in 1888 Alfred's brother died while visiting Cannes, France. And a French paper thought that Alfred was killed and published his obituary..They published the following (translated) :

" The merchant of death is dead. " Then went on to say " Dr. Alfred Nobel, who became rich by finding ways to kill more people faster than ever before, died yesterday "

Upon reading this, Mr. Nobel was shocked, He did want to be remembered as the merchant of death or the one who created a murder weapon.. So this is why he Made the Nobel Peace Prizes..

Above is the actual will & testament of Dr. Alfred Nobel which stated that 94% of his assets should be used for the Nobel Prizes. I am sure it would be very difficult for you to read it, however... If you do look at the top left paragraphs in the picture and then below them to the right, you can clearly see the words " 27 November 1895 " : )

For outstanding contribution in :

Physics.
Chemistry.
Literature.
Peace.
Medicine or Physiology.

The Nobel Medal
Each recipient gets a Gold Medal, a diploma and a sum of money depending on the Nobel's Foundation's annual income, In 2009 each prize took home around 1.5 Million $, so it is no petty cash..
Also, the award cannot be given posthumously. ( to a dead person ) Unless the recipient died after the announcement was made and the award cannot be shared among more than Three people.. : )

The Nobel Diploma ( This one for Fritz Haber for his discovery of the Synthesis of Ammonia by Haber's Process )

First Nobel Prize ever :

In Physics went to Willhelm Conrad Rontgen For the Discovery of X-Rays.
In Chemistry went to Jacobus Van't Hoff For vast contributions in chemical Thermodynamics.
In Medicine went to Emil von Behring for developing an Antitoxin to treat Diphtheria.
In Peace to 2 prominent peace figures : Frederic Passy & Henry Dunant.
In Literature went to Sully Prudhomme against the expectations of the members who thought Leo Tolstoy was more deserving..  :)

The comittee room of the Norwegian Nobel Committee. On the wall are prtraits of all the winners of the Nobel Peace Prize
Four people only ever received the Nobel Prize Twice :

- Maria Sklodowska-Curie in Physics in 1903 for discovery of Radioactivity & in 1911 in Chemistry for the isolation of pure Uranium.
- Linus Pauling  in Chemistry in 1954 for vast contributions in Chemical bonding and how it effects structure & in 1962 he won the Peace prize for his anti-Nuclear activism ( He is the only person to ever win TWO unshared Nobel Prizes )
- John Bardeen in Physics twice : One in 1956 for the invention of the Transistor & in 1972 for the theory of Superconductivity.
- Frederick Sanger in Chemistry twice : One in 1958 for determining the structure of an Insulin molecule & in 1980 for inventing a method for determining base sequences in DNA. ( He is the only living person out of the Four )

May Gob bless them all and they Rest in Peace..

People to have Declined the Nobel Prize :

Two people only ever rejected to Nobel Prize, One is the French writer Jean-Paul Sartre who was awarded the literature prize in 1964 but refused stating " A writer must refuse to allow himself to be transformed into an institution, even if it takes place in the most honourable form." The second is Lê Ðức Thọ, chosen for the 1973 Peace Prize for his role in the Paris Peace Accords. He declined, claiming there was no actual peace in Vietnam..

" No One Nor Anything Can Silence Me " - Dmitri Mendeleev

Due to the fact that this post would be concerning the Chemistry Nobel Prize for the year 2010, I thought it would only be appropriate for it to contain the words and story of One of the Greatest chemist of all time in my opinion.

Dmitriv Mendeleev ( above ) Born 8 Feb 1834 - Died 2 Feb 1907 was a Russian Chemist and Inventor.

He is credited as the creator of the first version of Periodic Table of elements, Which is a fundamental part of chemistry in which hundreds of questions were answered based on his creation. Also, using his table he managed to predict the properties of elements yet to be discovered. Truly Remarkable in my opinion..

He was the first to try to classify the elements according to their chemical properties, he then noticed a pattern that later lead him to postulate his Periodic Table.

Claims of elements being able to fall in Periodicity have been made before Mendeleev's Table but have always fallen short, John Newlands, another scientist published his Law Of Octaves in 1865, but his lack of spaces for undiscovered elements and placing two elements in one box were criticized and his ideas were not accepted..

History notes that Julius Lothar Meyer a German Chemist was Mendeleev's competitor in drawing up and discovering the first Periodic Table of chemical elements, Both scientist have made vast contribution to the Periodic table however Mendeleev is credited for being the First and  created the Most widely accepted version of the Periodic Table.

Mendeleev predicted 8 elements, the very accurate predictions of Three of them which he called ekasilicon, ekaaluminium and ekaboron ( Germanium, Gallium and Scandium respectively ) Granted him great credibility and the major contribution to the Periodic Table of Elements..He used the prefixes (eka, dvi, tri) which are (Sanskrit One, Two, Three)

Some people dismissed Mendeleev for predicting there would be more elements, but he was proven correct when Germanium & Gallium were discovered in 1886 & 1875 respectively, Fitting perfectly in the two missing places..

The Above picture is a sculpture in honour of the leading Chemist and the Periodic Table of Elements located in Bratislava, Slovakia..

In 1906 around 35 years after Mendeleev published his first periodic table, The Nobel Committee for Chemistry recommended to award the Nobel prize to the Chemist for the discovery of the Periodic System, Almost every one agreed with this decision, however Svante Arrhernius although not a member of the Nobel Committee had great influence on the final decision and he dismissed Mendeleev by stating that his discovery is too old by now to be recognized as it occured 35 years ago..

Historians believe that this decision by Arrhenius was due to a personal grudge towards Mendeleev because  the latter criticized Arrhenius's Disassociation theory.. And Mendeleev never got the Prize that year, Attempts to award him with it the next year in 1907 also got complete opposition from Arrhenius leading to Mendeleev not receiving the award that year as well..

Finally in 1907, Mendeleev died at the age of 72 in Saint Petersburg from Influenza,

The Mendeleev Medal

The Crater Mendeleev on the Moon and the Element 101  the radioactive ( Mendeleevium ) were all in his honour..

The above picture here is also in honour of Mendeleev and the Periodic Table of Elements, this sculpture is found in Saint Petersburg, Russia..

So even if Mendeleev was never recognized by the Nobel committee, his work and discoveries still have a loud voice all over the world and a lot of people recognize his greatness and these sculptures and the crater on the moon and the Element named after him all say a lot about his influence..

Never Forgotten, Always Remembered, Dmitri Mendeleev.. 1834 - 1907.

-------------------------------------

Now to the Topic at Hand, Who took home the Nobel Prize For Chemistry for the year 2010 ? : )

On October 6 - 2010 The Nobel Prize For Chemistry was awarded to a group of three scientists,

Richard F. Heck, Ei-ichi Negishi, Akira Suzuki.. The First an American Chemist and the Latter both Japanese Chemists..

They were awarded for their work in Palladium catalyzed grouping reaction in Organic Synthesis.

I AM SURE YOU ARE WONDERING WHAT THAT MEANS.. :) No worries,

Let me explain,

In Chemistry a coupling reaction is a catch all for a range of reactions in Organometallic Chemistry where two hydrocarbons (alkanes, Alkenes, Alkynes) Fragments are coupled with the aid of a metal catalyst supported by suitable Ligands.

Hmmn.. What are Ligands

Central Metal atom with Six (Red) Ligands.

Well, Ligands are ions or molecules that binds into a central metal atom to form a Co-ordination Complex, this bond between Metal and Ligand generally involves a formal donation of one of more of the ligand's electron pair.

Keep in mind that Metal-lingand bonding can range from ionic to covalent and the bond order can range from 1 to 3..

Generally speaking there are two types of Coupling reactions, Cross coupling & Homocoupling.

Cross - Between two chemically distinct Partners.
Homo - Couples the Molecule itself. Often in oxidation or Reduction.

A Common Metal used in this chemistry is Palladium.

The Three Scientists had coupling reactions under their name :

And These three scientist were the recipients of the Nobel Prize for Chemistry 2010 for their work on Palladium Catalysed Cross Coupling in Organic Synthesis.

Palladium, as catalyst, first acts as a binding point for one activated carbon atom and attracts another with two extra electrons.
It unlocks itself from its temporary bond and moves on as a free catalyzing agent when the second atom binds to the first and makes the bond stable.
Palladium’s catalytic action continues, typically, until the substrate is stabilized and/or until the ambient condition remains hospitable to the reaction.
The Palladium-catalyzed cross-coupling reaction, as described above, becomes the technique of choice for constructing large carbon-based molecules.

Applications :

  • Styrene, component plastic of polystyrene (late 1969s)
  • Naproxen, anti-inflammatory (OTC – 1994 as Flanax, Midol among other brands)
  • Montelukast, ashtma relief – 1990s based on patent expiry of 2012
  • Palytoxin -1994
  • Dragmacidin F, herpes and HIV anti viral – 2005
  • Vancomycin modification for MRSE and entero-cocci –
  • Discodermolide synthesis, anti-cancer (2010 for large-scale synthesis)
  • Diazonamide A synthesis, anti colon cancer – a Philippine ascidian -sea squirt – is the original, natural source of this drug ingredient
  • Organic and blue LED optimization – late 1990s

A case study on a simple phobia

Have you ever been caught from behind? How has it felt? What thoughts and feelings did you experience during that point of time? Did it feel scary?

In case you were fortunate enough to not experience anything like that, can you imagine your reaction if you were suddenly caught from behind?

Many people out there are probably thinking that this is just a stupid joke or an irrelevant thing to be bothered about let alone analyse it.

But, if I told you that it is even possible to develop a phobia out of something as simple as being pulled from behind, would you believe it?

Well, unfortunately, phobias, whether simple or complex, are developed from seemingly irrelevant incidents.

Let me illustrate an example on anxiety phobia:

"Every weekend, a young boy would visit the grocery market to get provisions for his mother. And each time, he would steal a handful of peanuts from a sack when no one was looking and quickly hide it in his pocket. This continued for a few weeks.

One fine day, the peanut owner realized that plenty of peanuts just kept disappearing from the sack each weekend and decided to find out what was going on. When the boy visited the market again, the owner hid behind him and noticed his stealing act. Instantly, he caught the young boy from behind and the boy fell to the ground screaming and fainted from embarassment of being caught red-handed.

The young boy developed a phobia of being caught from behind. He would avoid going out in public as much as possible lest someone should grab him from behind. During extreme situations, he would arrange to have his seat placed flat against the wall to rule out any chances of being caught from behind. While walking on the street, he would glance past his shoulder frequently to ensure no one was following him. He would panic and palpitate if he saw anyone walking close by behind him. He constantly worried about someone grabbing him from behind and as a result, would go to any extent to avoid any likelihood of something similar happening again."

Now, doesn't it seem absolutely astonishing that something as simple as the incident that occurred in the young boy's life should turn into a life-threatening, anxiety phobia? well, I am not completely ruling out the genetic factor here - the boy could have had a family member suffering from some sort of an anxiety phobia, but the incident acted as the main trigger to set it off.

DON'T DISAPPEAR YET!!

The mind's gonna let you in on more secrets next week.

BREAKING NEWS JUST IN!!!

There is an European Organization For Nuclear Research known as (CERN) , Heard of them ?

They are the world's largest particle physics laboratory, situated in the Northwest suburbs of Geneva on the Franco-Swiss Border, Established on 1954.

This organization has 20 European Member states, also the workplace of about 2,600 employees, with 7,931 Scientists & Engineers of 80 Nationalities..

CERN's main function is to provide the Particle Accelerators and other infrastructure needed for High Energy Physics research..

File:Where the WEB was born.jpg

It is also noted for being the Birthplace of The World Wide Web.

 File:CERN member states.svg

THESE ARE THE MEMBER STATES OF CERN

You can do some research on them, but this is not the content of the post niether is it THE BREAKING NEWS!!

I Hope everyone knows what is Antimatter.

Antimatter is basically the antiparticle counter part to matter, For example :

Black - White.
Fat - Skinny.
Young - Old.

Just like that, we have :

Matter - Antimatter.

Antimatter is composed of antiparticles just like matter is made of particles, for instance :

A Hydrogen atom is made of a Proton and an Electron. Now, The counter part of a Proton is an Antiproton, and the counter part of an Electron is a Postiron, Therefore an Antiproton & a Postiron will give you An Antihydrogen... Get it ? : )

File:3D image of Antihydrogen.jpg

Thats the simplest way to explaining it.. Just image it is the complete opposite of all matter.
But beware, if Antimatter comes in contact with matter, they will cancel out eachother and cause an ANNIHILATION! The severity of it will depend on the amounts used..

Now as humans we have knows about all this for quite some time, the first paper on Antimatter was in 1928 by Paul Dirac,

Antiproton in 1955, Antineutrons in 1956 Meaning we do have a clue about what is what..

Now this is juicy part, Remember the Antihydrogen atom you read about above, When one Postiron which is an Antielectron and One Antiproton get together they fom an Antihyrogen..

Now, in 1995, CERN announced they have successfully brought into existence 9 ANTIHYDROGEN ATOMS! Then once that was successful they managed to create 100 of them, but these atoms were extremley energetic and give out extremley high temperatures, Not very helpful when they want to study it..

The CERN even formed a group of scientist to try and create a COLD ANTIHYDROGEN which will be eaiser to study, In 2002 they annouced the managed to create the FIRST COLD ANTIHYDROGEN EVER! The experiment was highly effective but highly inefficient,

They used 25, 000, 000 Antiprotons at first and only 25, 000 of them make it through, that is almost 0.1% of the Amount..Not Efficient!

THE BREAKING IS THIS! :

CERN were never able to TRAP any ANTIHYDROGEN ATOMS long enough in order to study them, They could produce them but not sustain them for a long time..And this was extremley difficult!!

BUT

Recently, in Late November 2010 between the 17th and 19th, The CERN have managed to trap 38 ANTIHYDROGEN ATOMS for a TENTH OF A SECOND in a MAGNETIC TRAP!

Imagine..

I am sure you saying, what is the big deal, but beleive me this is no small thing!! And a tenth of a second is a very small amount of time but this is a Huge MILESTONE IN PARTICLE PHYSICS, it was Enough time to study them..it was trapped long enough to be studied and probbed by scientific instruments.

This will all help us further in understanding the ever growing field of Particle physics and the origins of the Universe,

Proffesor Jeffery Hangst a CERN Researcher said " Its taken us five years to get here, this is a big Milestone, It was 10,000 more times harder than creating untrapped Antihydrogen atoms, We could have held them for much longer... I am just full of joy and relief "

The Scientists had to run the experiment 335 to trap 38 Antihydrogen Atoms..

The CERN's next ambition is to create a beam of antimatter.

This is a True Milestone in Particle Physics, All the dedication, all the hard work, all the time spent, all in the love of Science...
